A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Marie. I am a missionary teacher with Wycliffe Bible Translators. I spent a little over 3 years in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where I taught at Haven of Peace Academy. I am now preparing to go to Mbeya Tanzania, where I will be starting a school for missionary kids. This blog is a place to share more about who I am, and get a glimpse into what I am doing. Please feel free to share with a friend! :)

School Supplies

It's hard to believe we are in the middle (nearing the end of July!) I continue to walk in faith and pray for 60 new monthly partners.  (If you have any friends who would like to partner with my ministry in Mbeya, please give them my info.)

God is so faithful in providing what we need when we need it and I've watched as He has worked in marvelous ways throughout my furlough.

Last Sunday I spoke at Fahlun Lutheran Church and was blessed.  Everyone is so warm and welcoming.
Starting Sunday, I had the privilege of teaching the 3-5 year olds each evening at Vacation Bible school in Rose City.  What a sweet bunch with an eager love for Jesus.  In addition to teaching the 3-5 year olds I gave a 'mission' talk, I had the opportunity to speak about Wycliffe, more about Tanzania, and more about some of the families I will work with in Mbeya.  The kids raised money to help ship books over for the school I will start.

So...what else am I up to?  I have started checking through supplies and purchasing/pricing some things.  You'll see some of my list below; if there are any things I missed that you think of that would be helpful in the classroom, or if you have any supplies you would like to donate...Please let me know! :) Thanks!!  (The items in blue are items I am looking to take with me/ship.  Items in black are available in TZ)

Wycliffe?

So, what is Wycliffe?

Wycliffe was founded by William Cameron Townsend in 1942.  He saw a need for Bible translation after concern was expressed by the Cakchiquel Indians, of Guatemala, that a Bible was not available to them.

Wycliffe's Mission: "To see a Bible translation program in progress in every language still needing one by 2025"

Wycliffe's Vision: "That God's word is accessible to all people in a language that speaks to their heart."

World Population: Over 7 billion

Number of Languages Spoken in the World: 6800+

Number of Languages without any of the Bible, but with a possible need of a Bible translation to begin:  Under 2000

Number of translation programs where Wycliffe and its partners are currently at work:  Over 1500

Number of people groups that have access to the entire Bible in the language they know best: 518

Please join me in praying for these translation needs; pray for the Bibleless people groups, and pray about how you can be involved!
